Icy Weather Means Extra Care On The Roads Is Needed

Think Insurance, the specialist Motor Trade Insurance company, comments on the weather:

Snow and ice have been causing havoc all over the UK – getting petrol, groceries and even medical supplies to their destinations has been disrupted. With days of heavy snow fall, road systems have been heavily effected and children have been getting some early time off school, but now a new problem arises. As the temperature begins to rise signs of a big thaw have seen floods in the Strathclyde area and road users are being told to drive with extra caution.  The emergrncy services are also warning of ice frozen lakes and ponds, pipes bursting which will cause flooding and the potential of icicles falling from buildings.

As a leading  broker who hears from traders nationwide  we agree our roads are improving for now, however road users should still take extra care and still think about whether the journey really is necessary. With weather forecasters predicting the weather soon returning to below freezing temperatures it look as though we could be in for a long hard winter.   Schools are getting back to normal and other supplies are beginning to reach their destinations, although there will be some shortage of things until everything returns to normal.

Finance Secretary John Swinney said: “As the severe weather lessens it grip over the weekend we anticipate an increase in demand for fuel.” “Grangemouth refinery is preparing for this by ramping up operations to ensure that there is enough fuel available to allow people to get out and about over the weekend.”
